TMW……a family tradition
In some ways Ten Minute Warmup is an accident. We never planned on playing in a “family” band. But as time goes on we all have this feeling that it was preordained. Yes, we are all related. Let's see if you can follow this: Roger is Emma and Peter's dad. Bill is Mark and Scott's dad. Roger and Bill are brother-in-laws. Emma, Peter, Scott and Mark are cousins. Got it? But it all started with Roger's dad and mom who were, of course, Emma, Peter, Scott and Mark's grandfather and grandmother. Pete Wright played country guitar and Gladys Wright played southern Baptist gospel piano. They passed their passion for music on to us and I suspect they would love this family band.
Why the name? In addition to our rock and roll roots, we are all tennis bums. Mark is the Tennis Director at South Shore Tennis Club in St. Joseph, Michigan. Scott is the Tennis Director at the WRC/Moorland Park Tennis Club in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Bill has coached junior tennis in Vincennes, Indiana since the earth cooled. Roger is an award winning high school coach in Ohio. Emma, also an Ohio high school coach, is the winningest women's player in the history of her high school. Peter plays varsity tennis at a Cincinnati high school and recently made 1st team all -league and honorable mention all-Greater Cincinnati. He is also a varsity golfer. Bill's lovely bride, Carol, (which if you followed the family tree is Roger's sister, Em and Pete's aunt, and Mark and Scott's mom) named us. Yes, it's a tennis term. The most important contributors to this strange adventure are Carol, Janis, Cathy, Shels, Madison, Annie,Tristan and Benjamin who love and support us.
